I've heard about this place for a while now, and I can't believe I've been missing out on such high-quality beef tongue right around the corner from South Coast Plaza after a long day of shopping. We've tried some excellent beef tongue at high-end Japanese izakayas, as well as some subpar versions at more affordable spots. But here, for just $20+, you can get really good quality beef tongue--12 generous pieces for a satisfying feast! I'm so glad we've discovered this gem at Mitsuwa in Irvine. I just hope they open a location at Mitsuwa in Torrance in the South Bay soon!

A go to spot whenever I'm in the area! I used to come to this Mitsuwa for ramen at one of the other stalls, but after I tried my first Gyutan plate, I've never looked back. The meat is so tender and all of the sides complement the beef tongue so well. I typically get the Gyutan Yaki from the a la carte menu, but when I'm really hungry or if I'm sharing, I'll get the meal like I did this time. There's a bit of a wait for your order, but it's super worth it because the food is always hot and fresh. Each order is cooked to order over charcoal and you can definitely taste the difference.

I took my kiddo out to a late lunch after traveling back from his soccer game in south OC and this definitely hit a spot. We shared ramen set and a 12-piece set from Tsukasa. I opted to sub rice for a salad since we already have carb heavy meal with ramen and rice bowl. The charcoal bbq beef tongue was definitely tender and perfectly marinated. My kiddo asked that I take him back here again in the future. This was his first visit to this Mitsuwa and its food court and he had the time of his time exploring. He said it reminded him of Tokyo. This will always be my favorite Mitsuwa in SoCal.

Reminds me like I am eating in Tokyo again. Oh how much I missed Japan. Thank you for making food that is so yummy and delicious and healthy for me here in America. Can't find food like yours in LA. Can you move to LA too? Preferably like Monterey Park, San Gabriel, Temple City?

This is probably the only place, or one of the very few in LA, that specializes in gyutan--Japanese grilled beef tongue. I've been wanting to try it for years and finally had the chance. While I enjoy lengua tacos and burritos at Mexican restaurants, gyutan is different. It's firmer and chewier than the tender texture of lengua, but the smokiness and seasoning of the gyutan are delicious and pair perfectly with rice. Since it's in the Mitsuwa food court, finding a table can be tricky depending on the time of day. I went during weekend lunch, and it was nearly impossible to find a seat. I recommend visiting during non-lunch hours.

Huge fan of beef tongue. Sadly due to inflation the usual $70 spent on Set A + Set B + extra 12 pieces is now $100... Glad the taste remains the same If not more oily But feeling like the portion also got smaller Service: decent. Quick to order. The wait time depends on how many people are in front. Ambiance: 4/5 located conveniently in mitsuwa marketplace.

Idk why it's taken me this long to review this place because it's literally one of my FAVORITES I've never had BEEF TONGUE anywhere else, quite like how Gyutan Tsukasa USA does it Must be the CHARCOAL GRILL or something, but the meat comes out hot and juicy and pairs perfectly with the pickled vegetables it comes with If I'm on the hungrier side I'll order the set that comes with rice and soup, but for a snack I'll just get the tongue a la carte Even though there may be a line, the food comes out rather quickly. For example, they open at 11:00am, I ordered by 11:04am and food came by 11:18am. Definitely worth a try if you like tongue at Korean bbq or lengua tacos, here's another way to enjoy it too!

We literally drive an hour to enjoy Gyutan! It's the only Mitsuwa I know of that has Gyutan Tsukasa. We got the Gyutan set and it's so delicious. The soup is so clear, but packed with the essence of beef. The gyutan itself of course is grilled to perfection, juicy and bouncy. The side pickles and such are also really tasty. We didn't get it this time, but the first time we were here, the gyutan stew was so good, kept thinking about it for weeks to come.. :) We weren't super hungry, so sharing one of the 12 piece sets was good for 2 people. But I think if I were more hungry, I could have easily eaten the 8 piece set myself.

Ask me a few years ago and I would've been horrified to hear anyone eating beef tongue. Like what in the world?!? It wasn't until I tried it at some wagyu place....and realized I've been missing out! Did not taste like how I imagined. I mean, I'm still a little apprehensive but its undeniably tender!! My friend brought me here to try the charcoal grilled tongue. Located in the food court of Mitsuwa. Said it was "popular". When we went near closing time there was really no wait~but she did say normal wait times were long. We ordered the 12 piece for $30 to share and it came with a bowl of rice, some pickled veggies, wasabi, and a bowl of soup. It was surprisingly enough for us although I was skeptical at first. Tongue was so tender and flavorful. It was perfect with some wasabi smeared on it. Soup was a tad salty but the thick chunks of tongue inside were super soft. Overall a very solid 4.5 place I'd say~Too bad its an hour away from me or I'd be there daily. Parking is decent and plenty of tables when I went (again, we went near closing so prime time might be different)...
